Nyjah Houston

Hey skaters and people reading this because they saw the title of Nyjah Huston. Today I wanted to talk about the world's ranking number one skater, Nyjah Huston. Nyjah has made a huge impact on the skateboarding community in good and bad ways. I would for starters say that a good way he has impacted the skateboarding community is that he brought a lot of attention to the community and brought some more people in with his insane tricks and stunts going viral on social media platforms. There have also been bad things he had or not necessarily bad things he did but things that were bad in the eyes of the community. The thing about Nyjah is that he is known as a sell out. He has this reputation because he has big brand sponsors and does some crazy things for them that some people consider bad or “selling out” as another would say. One thing he did especially that people criticized him for was having a nude picture of himself with his back showing to the camera for a GQ magazine.

Because of this, he was known to be a bigger sell out in comparison to other times with different companies like Lance Bolds crackers or Nike. Like the Lance Bolds sell out moment was mainly because crackers and skateboarding had nothing to do with each other so it made no sense for a skater to be promoting crackers.

And with Nike it was just that everyone hates on Nike for not being a “true” skateboarding company. People claim Nike is only in the industry for the profit when in reality all or almost more than most of them are only in it for the profit. Especially when other skaters start their own companies for shoes, boards, trucks, bearings, or anything related to skateboarding. 
Now for some of the good things he’s done or at least things I would consider good is that he skated at the Olympics on the USA team. He didn’t score first or even placed, but he skated for our country which is still more than most people can say for a skateboarder. Another thing would be not selling bad products from his new starting company “Disorder”. Skaters coming out independent usually release not the best products just to make profit. Except Nyjah had his products with great quality and affordable prices. So that’s Nyjah Huston for you, Globally ranked #1 skater.
