In 2013 Sean Malto had a ankle injury that nearly ended his skateboarding career. The injury came from an attempt on a varial heelflip, which is a skateboard trick that consists of doing a heelflip mixed with a front side pop shuv it, into a fountain. For those who don't know what those are, a heel flip is similar to a kickflip but instead of kicking out with your toes, you kick out with your heel and a shuv it is a trick where you scoop the board with your foot so the board rotates 180 degrees. What ended up happening was after the failed attempt, he tried to bail on the trick and didn't kick the board away completely and he landed on his backfoot which led to him rolling his ankle so far that his tibia and fibula dislocated and ended up hitting the ground which caused his skin to split in his ankle. This injury caused him to be out of commission for almost 4 years but thankfully he had a great surgeon to place his muscles and ligaments together.
